Productivity
I use David Allen’s strategy and tactics that he outlines in Getting Things Done in my business and personal life. Every couple of years I re-read his book again, in order to refresh myself with the material and I always find additional ways to apply his technics. It is truly a life-changing book.
Since it was first published almost fifteen years ago, David Allen’s Getting Things Done has become one of the most influential business books of its era, and the ultimate book on personal organization. “GTD” is now shorthand for an entire way of approaching professional and personal tasks, and has spawned an entire culture of websites, organizational tools, seminars, and offshoots.
Financial
Going through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University saved me from financial ruin. For years I spent more than I made and when I was laid off it was devastating to our finances. Applying his common sense approach to finances such as putting ourselves on a cash basis enabled us to turn our financial lives around. His audiobook system contains 9 CDs and while it is entertaining, his concepts and tactics will change your financial life forever.
Dave Ramsey provides real life examples of how his strategy works. His idea of saving $1000 for emergencies (and emergencies will happen) does work. That is one of the first steps. In addition he recommends saving up 3-6 months of income. He has you start with the baby steps of saving a $1000 dollars and building from there. My wife saved the $1000 dollars and sure enough an emergency happened. Since we had saved the money, the emergency was a non-issue. We are currently working on saving the 3-6 months of emergency income. The saving is set up automatically so we don’t have to think about. The book is definitely a worthwhile read and strategies and tactics should be applied in your life. They do work.
Goals
I found Brian Tracy’s book instrumental in getting my blog started and my website up and running. Tracy presents a simple, powerful, and effective system for setting and achieving goals—a method that has been used by more than one million people to achieve extraordinary things. Using the twenty-one strategies Tracy outlines, you’ll be able to accomplish any goals you set for yourself—no matter how big.
Mindset
My wife and I have used Hal’s techniques since the fall of 2016 and it has helped us to be more productive each and every day. While what Hal proposes has been identified by various motivational experts over the years, none have brought together the various pieces into a clear, concise formula. Robert Kiyosaki, bestselling author of ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’, says “Hal Elrod is a genius and his book The Miracle Morning has been magical in my life.”
